WE HAVE ALL THE COLOURS FOR ALL OF US AND NONE FOR US ONLY* Our experiment is reaching the end. The installation is done. After having invaded your daily life, it moved. Hung from the palm trees of the Casbah museum and on the facade of la Maison Communautaire des Femmes de la foundation Darna(community house for women of the Darna foundation) in Grand Socco(big market), thousands of colourful strings dance in the wind. They are sky blue, sea blue, sun yellow, blood red, orange, mauve, green… more than 20,000 paper strings hand woven! Exceptional pieces of work, quite possibly the thirteenth of the twelve labours of Hercules! Love song dedicated to contain excitement, joy of effort brought together…watch, admire and believe it. Tens, hundreds, even thousands of people will see this sarabande of strings. They will shimmer as well from the energy put into the work: perseverance, enthusiasm and traditional skills. Never would I have thought to weave the paper by foot, and roll it by hand so fast … Bravo! It fills me with wonder . Even the smallest of these strings represents each of you, each of us… it floats in our heads, rolls up in our hearts, hangs from our hands, across our frontiers, string among invisible strings… What you have created, sang the life in what it has of most beautiful, all these colours… The ambassadors of 50 International countries, who came to decide the application of the Tangiers Expo 2012, applauded you. Your eyes shined with stars. The art is here to express our emotions, make precious what does not seem to be. It makes us furrow unplanned roads, reveals us to ourselves, gives us wings; don’t forget it, as I won’t forget you. You know now that new adventures are waiting for you.
